Chinese Family Camp

CFC Legacy Website

ack in the ancient times, the great tech wizard Mark Chow created a simple website using oracle bones, 1200 baud connectivity, and HTML that traces its anthro-cyber-linguistic roots to cave paintings and scrolls found in the Dun Huang region of China. The original website was lost sometime between the end of the Song dynasty and various unknown Y2K server issues (whereas the Dun Huang scrolls have survived since their storage in circa 1000 AD…makes one wonder about which medium we should trust for long term storage). Luckily a final backup was painstakingly created using punch cards and unused dot matrix printers and is safely stored on a hard disk…somewhere.

While we are patiently awaiting the rediscovery of said hard disk (it’s safely stored somewhere between my basement and the aforementioned Dun Huang caves), please browse through this most excellent Musical History of Chinese Family Camp From the 1950’s Through the 1980’s created by CFC Board Member Emma Trone and a Staff Pick for the 2022 Georgetown University Library Showcase!
