Wednesday Highlights

I can’t believe we did so many great activities all on one day!

We started off with a fun lesson about Chinese history. Uncle Greg Louie dressed up like an emperor and played the role of emperor Taizu of the Song dynasty. He told us about how he became emperor and how he left his throne. Uncles dressed up as emperors is a good way to learn the Chinese history.

Bowling was fun as usual and it is a great way to have family fun time. I did my personal best rolling 2 strikes in a row followed by a spare. I had a really good time.

This year’s scavenger hunt was different from the others – we had to figure out some pretty odd things. Finding the number and ages of the new camper family (the Chow’s from Michigan/Texas/California), and finding the home province of each grandparent – especially when some of the grandparents were not willing to tell! The previous years’ hunts mostly involved finding household items.

The campfire was conveniently located outside the restaurant, and the high heat of the fire drove off the few mosquitos that were still able to fly in the tropical heat of inner Indiana.
There were enough marshmallows and Hershey’s chocolate to feed the whole camp twice over, and everyone was running pretty hot already, so the hotel brought out some water and some of the uncles brought out ice cubes and bottled water. It is a fantastic tradition that should continue for another century.
